The GB Livestock Junior Show Exchange offers a unique opportunity for a competitor of the 2023 National All Breeds Junior Heifer Show to travel internationally, spending time with highly successful cattle breeders, learning from the best of the best, and competing in Canada's largest junior show program. 

This award is proudly sponsored by Grant Bulloch. Grant is the founder and Principal of GB Livestock, a purebred Black Simmental and commercial cross breeding operation based in the Southern Tablelands of NSW near Braidwood. Grant's passion for the junior show industry was ignited during his own experiences attending various breed junior shows, notably the National All Breeds Junior Heifer Show.

In 2014, at the age of 18, Grant embarked on a life-changing journey to Canada for six months. During this time, he had the privilege of meeting and working with some of the most renowned cattle breeders in the world, including Lewis Farms, 6 Mile, and Harvie Ranches. This experience had a profound impact on Grant's life and career. Seven years later, he returned to Australia with newfound knowledge and inspiration, which he applied to the family farm. The transformative power of this opportunity, combined with the support he received from Australian junior programs, fueled Grant's determination to give back to the youth programs that shaped him.

Award and Value of the Exchange

- One (1) Exchange may be awarded each year during the National All Breeds Junior Heifer Show. A GB Livestock representative and a panel of judges will choose the successful applicant based on their application, interview performance and participation in all aspects of the National All Breeds Junior Heifer Show.

The exchange consists of the following:

- Return Airfares to Canada 

- Host family arrangements for a 2 week exchange

- Entry to Summer Synergy 2024

- 1 Weeks mentorship with GB Livestock at 2025 Sydney Royal Easter Show

  

Eligibility for Exchange

• Must be aged 18 by 1st July 2025 and no older than 21 on 1st July 2025.

• Candidates must be a competitor at the 2024 National All Breeds Junior Heifer Show

• Candidate must submit an application by Thursday 15th, August 2024

• Candidates must be able and willing to travel overseas during July 2025 (dates TBC)

• The successful candidate must be available to attend Summer Synergy 2025

• Candidates should be open to the opportunity to have an organic conversation with award judges during the 2025 National All Breeds Junior Heifer Show

• Candidates should be open-minded to learning, have a can-do attitude, try their best across various aspects of the competition, and demonstrate courtesy and politeness to others and themselves during the National All Breeds Junior Heifer Show. 

Selection of exchange recipient 

The Exchange will be awarded to the applicant showing the most significant merit as demonstrated, including but not limited to,

- Show Involvement, personal qualities and teamwork

- Quality of the written application

- Ambitions and goals

- Communication skills

- Presentation

- Interview performance

-The successful applicant will be announced on Sunday 8th September 2024 during the National All Breeds Junior Heifer Show presentation.
